An early step forward in creating better treatment for people with CF was to create Specialist CF Treatment Centres. This was based on the adage that "practice makes perfect".
Specialist centres bring together doctors, CF specialist nurses, physiotherapists, nutritionists, social workers and other key staff. All of these groups are experienced in treating the condition and its ensuing problems.
It has been shown that the overall condition of CF patients improves when their care is concentrated amongst specialists who are well aware of all the systems that must be treated.
